If your base is full
Compare the incoming pet with the one it would replace. More slots can matter, but a replacement can also raise income without assuming every new egg needs another slot.
If an upgrade does not raise income
Capacity and other base benefits are not cash by themselves. The extra income appears only when your usable setup improves. Enter zero extra income until you have a defensible increase.
Keep a useful collection
Before giving pets to a Rift request, consider whether those are your current earners or your only copies. Completing an exchange can reduce the collection you were relying on.
